Safety around dogs

10 a.m. to noon, Saturday. The Pensacola Dog Association Inc. is teaming up with the Humane Society and Animal Control to educate children and adults on important safety precautions when playing with dogs. The free event will be at Bayview Park at 20th Avenue and East Lloyd Street and is open to all ages. The event will include four learning stations where children can play with puppies, color, participate in dog and cat discovery classes and enjoy free refreshments. Complimentary educational materials and coloring books will be provided for the first 150 children who arrive. Grande Finale at Evenings in Olde Seville Square
with Holly Shelton and Don Snowden’s Big Band All-Stars

Immerse yourself in an evening full of exceptional big band music when Holly Shelton, one of the classiest singers in the country, joins Don Snowden’s Big Band All-Stars at the final Evenings in Olde Seville Square of the 2005 summer season from 7–9:15 p.m. on Thu., Sept. 1. This concert was originally scheduled for Aug. 4 but was postponed because of unfavorable weather conditions.

The Big Band All-Stars will play music ranging from the swing era to modern day, covering Glen Miller to Sting. Don Snowden, director of the Big Band All-Stars and regular guest at Evenings in Olde Seville Square, will be joined by his wife Holly Shelton and her spellbinding virtuosity that captivates everyone within earshot, turning heads and winning hearts wherever she sings. Her stunning shows and costume accessories pizzazz the act and accentuate her versatility. This concert is sponsored by Dr. Bill Spain Chiropractic Wellness and 1st Choice Home Improvements.

Bar-be-que, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, frozen desserts, soft drinks and water will be available for purchase. Plan to bring a lawn chair or a blanket for seating and a picnic basket or cooler. Arrive early for best seating. As always, you will also have the chance to give the gift of life by donating blood. The Northwest Florida Bloodmobile will be present 5–9 p.m. on the corner of Alcaniz & Zaragoza Street.

Grace 2005

Sept. 16-17. Grace 2005, the annual Christian music festival, will be held on the anniversary of Hurricane Ivan. The event will be a fundraiser for Rebuild Northwest Florida, helping to rebuild affordable housing for the thousands that have lost their homes.
